Meet your representatives

Henry Barfoot
Elected

My name is Henry Barfoot and I am standing for the NPS School Board.

My son James is currently in Year 5, and my daughter Annelise recently ‘graduated’ from NPS, so I have parent experience of all year groups. I would like our school to be a place where our children receive a top-quality education, surrounded by an engaged community. We have the opportunity to build on the excellent work done by previous board members, however there will always be new challenges for the Board to address.

I’ve lived in Northcote for over a decade, and work as a branch manager for Barfoot & Thompson, managing a team of around 40 employees and contractors. My work experience touches on a number of areas that I believe will be useful in my role as school trustee. These include recruitment and HR processes, property maintenance and long-term budgets, legal matters and complaint resolution. I have strong financial and analytical skills, and want to ensure our school takes advantage of all available funding opportunities.

I’ve been a previous committee member on sporting and community groups and business organisations, and have always been “hands on” in advancing projects that achieve the goals of those organisations.

Fiona Eagles
Elected

My name is Fiona Eagles and I’m standing for the Northcote Primary School (NPS) Board.

I am the proud mother of Taylor (6) and Addison (4). My husband Jamie and I had lived locally since 2014 and feel lucky to raise our kids in such a special pocket of Auckland, surrounded by a wonderful community. As a family we like to be outdoors playing sports, biking or out in the Gulf ideally catching some fish. When time allows, you can find me running on the local trails, out in Little Shoal Bay on a paddleboard, or with my nose in a book. The local area provides us with so much and as a result I would love the opportunity to give back by sitting on the NPS Board.

I believe I am well placed to represent the parent body of NPS as a member of the Board. Professionally, I am a lawyer currently working in-house for one of the major banks. In a previous role I was company secretary for the Board of an insurance company. I believe a legal skill set would be a valuable addition to the current NPS Board.

I am passionate about all kids having the opportunity to receive the best start in their learning journey which provides a solid platform to achieve their potential in life.

If elected I would provide a stable viewpoint on the board, encourage more consultation with the wider parental community and constantly be striving for excellence. I would also look to ensure that our teachers continue to be provided with the resources and facilities they need to be their best and maintain the high standard of education that our kids currently receive and deserve.

Finally it would also be my goal to ensure NPS continues to be a safe, positive and fun environment for our children to learn and grow as the school adapts and addresses the new challenges faced by today’s society.
